Activity Days: Thanksgiving
This is my Activity Days Thanksgiving Project post. Last night we made "Thankful" Trees, I was so excited about this project that I called Brother M. and asked him if we could use the girls' "Thankful" Trees as the centerpieces for our Thanksgiving Dinner on November 22nd. He loved the idea and gave us the go! I decided that I am going to make a much bigger tree with a branch from Gaby's backyard and have everyone who comes to the dinner write on a leaf something that they are thankful for, after perusing Pinterest, I found something similar to my vision, except I want to keep the branch brown.
Materials Used: Twine [I bought Thick and Thin (green & brown) Twine]
Recycled Metal Cans [corn, beans, pasta sauce]
Leaves [Dollar Tree]
Craft Paper [Red, Yellow, Green, Brown, Orange]
Leaf Stencil [I used leaves that fell from my tree in the front yard]
Rocks [To hold the tree in place]
Branches
I live in St. George, there are tons of hiking trails, rocks, and branches to choose from so my siblings and I went out for a hike and picked the best branches and rocks we could find. we soaked the rocks in bleach and sprayed the branches with a water/bleach mix so there won't be any bugs crawling on our food.
Here's a picture of the small tree I made for a centerpiece.
I got the twine on the left at Dollar Tree and the one on the right at Walmart.
The leaves I bought at the Dollar Tree last year.
I used rocks from my front yard to hold the tree up.
The mini tree I found at Brian's Baseball game.
Excuse my mess. HAHA.
They're SO cute! I love them and I know everyone will love them as centerpieces! Here's some pictures of our activity.
Yum! Pumpkin Pie.
My mom, Gaby & I
